Patrick McCrite graduated from North Kansas City High School. He received a scholarship to play football at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. While there, Pat helped his mother manage boarding houses for seniors; he did various administrative duties and acted as a handyman. He graduated from Washburn University with a bachelor’s degree majoring in Art. Upon graduation, he became the youngest licensed skilled care administrator in the state of Kansas.

Pat met Judy, a lifelong resident of Topeka, who had earned her Bachelor’s degree in Education and Master’s degree in Special Education. Together they built a new skilled nursing care operation in Topeka based upon their shared knowledge and experience working with elderly and social services. At the time, they turned the industry model upside-down by building beautiful apartments that included medical and personal care. Over the past 40 years, they added assisted living and independent apartments, creating a full continuum of care for seniors in Topeka, and earning a stellar reputation for building beautiful senior communities with the highest standards of care.

As they were building their business, they were also busy raising five children. All were involved in the retirement community, from mowing lawns to volunteering with residents. And nearly all pursued advanced studies and careers involving senior care.

A Message From Our Family to Yours

Retirement communities today provide a remarkable way to enjoy life without the stress and responsibilities of home ownership. In addition, safety and security provide tremendous peace of mind for all concerned. That said, sometimes family members have reservations about moving parents to a retirement community. There may be feelings of guilt or abandonment to the idea of transitioning responsibility of a parent or loved one. That is why the education and choice of the community are so important.

McCrite Plaza senior living provides beautiful apartments and amenities so that retirees can enjoy the good life. We offer a wide array of activities and opportunities to all of our friends and neighbors, always striving to provide the best experience possible.

If chronic illness or health issues become debilitating, our loving, compassionate staff are ready and able to meet those needs. The McCrites have a personal philosophy of honoring, respecting, and caring for elders. It’s an ideal we hold close to our hearts here at McCrite Plaza.

Furthermore, the McCrite family has made a significant commitment to couples. We want to ensure they can stay together, even if they require different levels of care. The continuum of care (Independent Living with some Home Care, Assisted Living, Rehabilitation and Skilled Care) offered at McCrite Plaza ensures our residents’ medical needs are being met so that loved ones may remain close.

If our standards of healthcare and commitment to our community sound like they’re aligned with yours, we encourage you to set up an in-person visit with us so you can see everything for yourself. Our supportive staff is happy to show you around and answer any questions you or your loved ones may have.
