McCrite Plaza Retirement has confirmed plans to open a $19 million, 160-unit retirement community in Kansas City’s Briarcliff area

The 200,000-square-foot senior-care facility, just south of Missouri Highway 9 at Briarcliff Parkway, broke ground on June 28, 2012. It will include 120 independent-living apartments and 40 assisted-living units. The private-pay one and two-bedroom units will range from 750 to 1,250 square feet and will include high-end features such as hardwood floors, walk-in closets and granite countertops.

Amenities in the community will also include restaurants, recreational spaces, a health and wellness center, and services such as banking, a hair salon and spa. McCrite Plaza will also be the home of a lifelong learning center that will seat up to 100 individuals for music performances, educational events and various programs.
